Resistor

Resistor

Electrical resistor is a two terminal passive device.Which is used to reduce current flow and as voltage divider. Mostly resistor is made-up of carbon.

Below Circuit diagram shows circuit without resistor and with resistor

We can connect resistors in parallel and also in series. If resistors are connected in series then, value of resistance will be increased, added. If it is connected in parallel then the resistance will be decreased. Resistance can be calculated by Ohm's law .The value of the resistance is measured in Ohm(Ω).

Resistor concept is used in many applications like heating elements in irons, toasters, heaters, electric stoves and hair dryers, which dissipate voltage as heat.
